How To Buy Bitcoin At a Bitcoin ATM

All of our Bitcoin ATMs allow you to buy bitcoin with cash easily. In order to receive bitcoin, you will need to install a bitcoin wallet app on your phone (several options are provided below). Once you have a bitcoin wallet installed, purchasing bitcoin from our kiosks is as easy as following these simple steps:

  1. Select Buy Bitcoins at the ATM and select the amount that you will be spending.

  2. Depending on the amount you are transacting, you will need to enter your phone number and/or scan your driver’s license. See our limits for more information.

  3. Open your bitcoin wallet app and choose Receive or Request so that your phone displays a QR code. Hold your phone under the scanner (Under the red light) so that the machine can read the QR code off of your phone’s screen.

  4. Once the machine detects a valid bitcoin address from your phone, it will display the address back to you in order for you to confirm that it is correct and that you are the owner of the wallet. Bitcoin transactions from our kiosk are immediate and irreversible. Therefore, we require you to confirm that you are in control of any addresses that you scan at our machine before we send bitcoin to them. Note: Our machine will not allow you to send money to addresses that you do not personally control. See more info here.

  5. After confirming that you own the wallet, the machine will prompt you to begin inserting cash into the machine. The machine accepts $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 bills. Insert bills one at a time beneath the green light.

  6. Select Finish and a receipt will be provided.

So what Bitcoin wallet app should I use?

Any bitcoin wallet app will work with our machines, but here are a couple of options for you to check out depending on what type of phone you use:

iOS / iPhone (Apple App Store):

Important: After installing a wallet app, the app will ask you to go through a process to make a backup of your wallet. This process often involves getting out a pen and paper and writing down a series of words (known as the “seed words”) that can be used to recover your funds if your phone is lost or damaged. It is important to complete this step prior to loading a significant amount of bitcoin onto your wallet, and also to keep this list of words in a safe place where it cannot be accessed by anyone else.
